Abstract
The fish communities of Kenyir Lake was investigated to find out whether they are stochastic or in equilibrium. The habitats and diets of the major species were studied. Micro-positioning of fish include depth of fish focal point of fish distance to nearest cover distance to nearest fish and distance to nearest conspecific were measured. There are some degree of habitat overlap particularly in relation to position in the water column. The patterns of habitat use are related to the food habits. In general several species are habitat generalists while the rest occurred at distinct habitats.
