Abstract

Leaf ionic concentration growth and fruiting of salinized basic nutrient solution NaCl EC : 2.6 5.9 and 8.6 mS cm E-1 strawberry plants grown under two irradiance levels 2.1 and 4.9 MJ mE-2 d 1 total irradiance were studied. The Cl concentration increased from 0.008 at 2.6 mS cmE-1 to 0.172 at 8.6 mS cmE-1. The respective NO3 concentrations in the tisssue sap were 10.51 and 3.60 mg mlE-1. The concentrations of Ca and MD increased while K decreased with increasing irradiance. The growth and fruit yield were reduced at higher salinity but the effects were smaller at higher irradiance.
