Abdorreza T., . (2004) Technical efficiency analysis of dairy farms in Tehran Khorasan and Esfahan provinces. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
The technical efficiency of 559 dairy farms in three major provinces of Iran was estimated using a frontier production function. The data used were based on the Iranian Statistic Center publications in 1996. Technical efficiency was estimated through the C.O.L.S design and Cobb-Douglas model. The average farm was 40 percent efficient. The effect of some different factors on farm efficiency was compared. Analysis of technical efficiency showed no significant differences between provinces and the presence of specialist in farm management. The medium-sized dairy herd 21-100 had the least technical efficiency compared to both the smaller or larger herds.
