Abstract

Effect of lignite-humic acidsHA and micronutrientsFe and Zn were studied in sugarcane crop by a field experiments conducted between May 89 and April 90.The soil was sandy loam with pH 7.2 ECe 0.24 dSm-1 organic carbon 0.31 and low in availabe N K Fe and Zn.The experiment was laid out in RCBD with the following eight treatments replicated three times:ControlT1 HA 60 kg Ha-1T2 Soil application SA of ZnSO4 25 kg ha-1 foliar sprayFS of 1 ZnSO4T3 SA of FeSO4 50 kg ha-1 FS of 2 FeSO4T4 SAFS of ZnSO4 and FeSO4T8.HA as K-humate solution was sprayed on soil surface.Recommended doses of NPK were applied uniformly to all the plots. At maturity y yield of cane and quality of cane juice were recorded.Leaf blades and shealths were analysed for mineral nutrients.Addition of HA in combination with SA and FS of ZnSO4 and FeSO4T8 excelled all other treatments in influencing the yield attributes like tiller number millable cane number and length of internodes girth of cane single cane weight length and weight of millable cane as well as cane yield and dry matter production DMP. Addition of HA and micronutrients also improved the quality of cane juice as well as the mineral nutrients content of the leaf blades and sheaths of sugarcane.
