Abstract

We isolated total RNAs and constructed cDNA libraries from four tissues testis embryonic gonads spleen and brain of Korean native chicken KNC. Based on KNC cDNA libraries total 15 121 clones were sequenced and subsequently assembled into 10 353 contigs. The percentage of singletones in KNC ESTs was 58.9 and approximately 56 of assembled contigs showed the homology to sequences in public databases. Balst analysis showed the homology hits in testis embrynic gonad spleen and brain to chicken genes were 6.8 0.07 0.145 and 9.2 respectively. Finally we predicted the gene functionality and categorized several groups of KNC ESTs according to its functionality.
