Fadelah Abdul Aziz, . (2003) Orchid species Calanthe Triplicata: collection characterization and conservation. [Proceedings Paper]

Abstract

In MARDI collection trips of orchid species were conducted as early as 1976. From these collection trips a total of 1500 accessions within 100 genera were collected. The conservation of this orchid species is critical due to the active development and opening up of forest land either for crop cultivation or for physical development. Calanthe Triplicata is one of the common species found on peat soil in Malaysia. This terrestrial and shade loving orchid species has green pleated leaves with long flower stalk bearing many small long lasting white flowers. This attractive plant either makes an ideal potted plant or as an indoor landscape plants.
