Weihong W., . and Qingwen Wang, . (2006) Strength and mould proofing of a soy-based adhesive. [Proceedings Paper]
Abstract
China is a big agricultural country. It has abundant soy flour resource. Meanwhile formaldehyde over-emission is still an important issue in Chinese wood industry. So formulate environmental friendly adhesive from renewable plant resources is considered promising. This article presents a primary trial on optimizing soy-based adhesive formula. Based on the orthogonal experiment design an appropriate combination of NaOH CaO and Na2Si3 was confirmed. Compared with some traditional formula the result showed that less alkali were used which may reduce cost and hazard to health. Phenol formaldehyde resin double sodium acetate and sodium benzoate were used for mould proofing. Also the effects of these agents on plywood bonding strength were measured. PF is more satisfying than others. Fourier transform infrared verified that more alkali chemicals did not change more protein in soy flour.
