Abstract

Rice sheath blight and banana yellow sigatoka caused by Rhizoctonia solani and Mycispharella musicola respectively are important diseases of both crops. Studies carried out showed that two sequential sprays of hexaconazole at 28.8 to 57.6 g a.i. per hectare at fifty-five and seventy days after sowing were effective in controlling the rice sheath blight. Similarly foliar sprays of hexaconazole at 100 g a.i. per hectare were effective for the control of banana yellow sigatoka. These results demonstrate the broad spectrum systemic activity of hexaconazole.
