Abstract
Mud crab culture traditionally a small-scale family-based activity is now considered one of the most commercially alternative to shrimp culture. However in recent years it has been severely affected by environmental problems. The interest among shrimp farmers and large scale commercial investors to move into crab farming may be a welcome decision; but the impact on the small-scale farmers and the environment needs careful consideration.
