Abstract

The effects of selected herbicide mixtures surfactants and spray volumes on Imperata cylindrica under immature rubber were compared. Mixtures of glyphosate at 1.08 kg ae per ha with either 2 4-D dimethylamine at 0.03 0.05 or 0.08 kg ae per ha or fluroxypyr at 0.01 0.02 or 0.03 kg ae per ha resulted in reduced control. Mixtures of glyphosate at 1.08 kg ae per ha with glufosinate ammonium at 0.15 or 0.3 kg ai per ha produced comparable control while reduced control was obtained when mixed with paraquat at 0.2 or 0.4 kg ai per ha. glyphosate at 0.54 kg ae per ha improved control when mixed with imazapyr at 0.3 kg ae per ha while comparable control was obtained when glyphosate at 1.08 kg ae per ha was mixed with imazapyr at 0.15 or 0.3 kg ae per ha. Glyphosate at 1.08 or 2.16 kg ae per ha exhibited slight enhancement in control when mixed with the cationic surfactants Hyspray 52 Ethokem or Arsenal 62. Addition of the organosilicon surfactant Pulse 250 at 1.0 or 2.0 litre per ha to glyphosate at 1.08 kg ae per ha or imazapyr at 0.5 kg ae per ha improved control. Spray volumes of 85 litre per ha with the controlled droplet applicator or 480 560 and 640 litre per ha with the knapsack sprayer using glyphosate at 1.44 kg ae per ha or imazapyr at 0.5 kg ae per ha showed almost comparable control.
