Abstract
Clean weeding is never encourage in oil palm plantations. Weeding must be aimed at establishing a field free of noxious weeds but rich in vegetation that are not too competitive against crop trees and are effective in controlling soil erosion. In mature oil palm soft grasses are the most suitable vegetative covers. Glyphosate ALLY and paraquat ALLY are cocktails commonly used in plantations. For convenience both circles and interrows are sprayed together. Over time a barren or clean weeding situation prevails. To arrive at a situation where problematic weeds are controlled and soft grasses are given a chance to thrive correct usage of effective herbicides must be followed.
