Abstract

Seven Malaysian seed producers participated in the evthe evaluation which was indepently carried out at MPOB Lahad Datu Station. The seven agencies were (in alphabetical order) Department of Agriculture-Sabah Ebor Research-Sime Darby FELDA Agricultural Services Sdn Bhd Golden Hope Guthrie Chemara Highlands Research Unit and United Plantation Bhd. FASSB sent three groups of planting materials for evaluation and these were DxP (Yangambi) DxP (AVROS) and DxP (La Me). Results showed that the best mean oil yield/palm/year was produced by FELDA DxP (Yangambi) and this was significantly better than the rest (with the exception of Agency 1) using the DMRT at 5 percent level. For Total Economic Product (TEP) which is oil yield and (0.6) kernel yield added together the bset TEP was again produced by FELDA DXP (Yagambi). However FELDA DXP (Yangambi) Agency 1 Agency 5 Agency 6 Agency 7 and FELDA DXP (AVROS) form one group as there were no significant differences among them using the DMRT at 5 percent level. Results also showed that the lowest level of dura contaminated. This showed the effectiveness of strict quality control for FELDA DxP seed production.
