Abstract

A total of 442 specimens of demersal fishes were analysed for stomach contents. There were 94 of Priacanthus tayenus 120 of Nemipterus nemurus 112 of Upeneus spp. and 116 of Saurida spp. The number frequency of occurrence and volume of the food items were determined. Crustaceans predominated in the stomachs of Upeneus spp. Priacanthus tayenus and Nemipterus nemurus while both cephalopods and teleost formed the predominating groups in Saurida spp.
