Abstract
Pesticides the chemical agents used to control all plant pests (diseases insects weeds etc.) are an indispensable part of modern crop protection. Trends are for increased but more rational pesticide use in the tropics. Two significant aspects of current tropical pesticide use are the cooperative efforts for more effective government regulation and the inability of most small-scale farmers to fully benefit from their use.
