Abstract

A trial was carried out to determine the optimum rates of chicken dung and inorganic fertilizer for chilli (MC 4) grown on Bris soil at Telong Kelantan (Peninsular Malaysia). It was found that 2 t/ha of chicken dung and 2 000 kg/ha of NPK compound fertilizer (12:12:17:2) gave high yields. Straight fertilizer was found to be unsuitable. The increase in yield was mainly due to the increase in the number of fruits and not the fruit size. The yield obtained was maximum at the 10th and 18th weeks after transplanting
