Abstract

A laboratory appraisal was conducted on the effectiveness of five test formulations namely Azaconazole IPBC Mergal BCM TCMTB and MECT against stain and mold fungi with NaPCP as the reference preservative. The treatment of the wood samples was carried out by dipping them into solutions of different concentrations. TCMTB (1.5 percent and 3.0 percent) and MECT (2 percent) were found to match NaPCP in terms of overall anti-fungal activity. Azaconazole (0.15 percent and 0.3 percent) was effective against stain fungi and surface mold fungi except for Fusarium moniliforme Fusarium solani. Mergal BCM (0.25 percent and 0.5 percent) and IPBC (0.1 percent and 0.2 percent) were selective in their activity against the mold or stain fungi
