Chan Y.K., . F1 variation from hybridization of two 'Spanish' pineapple cultivars. pp. 172-177. ISSN 0128-0686
Abstract
A cross between two pineapple cultivars Gandul and Hybrid 36 belonging to the Spanish group generated a very wide spectrum of recombinants in the F1. The C.V. for 13 characters in the F1 were very large in many cases exceeding by two-fold that of the clonal parents. For all the characters the ranges covered by the F1 segregants transgressed those of both the parents combined. The prospects in selection and development of improved cultivars in this F1 population are discussed.
