Abstract

Samples of oil palm trunk were investigated for their pulping properties. To produce pulp from this material it was found necessary to first separate the fibrous strands from the surrounding unwanted pithy ground tissue. The fibrous strands gave sulphate pulp with moderate yield and strength. Bleaching gave rise to an appreciable loss in yield a moderate loss in strength and poor brightness.
