Abstract
Many samples of Malaysian natural rubber with known detailed histories have been analysed for a number of important metallic elements. The aim was to determine the most probable range of values for these elements in as wide a selection of SMR grades as possible. These values are becoming increasingly important especially for the trace metals as the requirements of toxicity testing increase in rigour. The results given here demonstrate that the levels of all toxic elements determined are well below those specified by regulatory authorities
