Abstract

The concept of development is discussed highlighting the emergence of a new paradigm which emphasizes total human development rather than economic growth alone. Potential impacts of IT on rural development are then examined length to a concept of IT exploitation for the rural sector. Exploitation strategies are proposed and a related programme described. Two IT programmes for development being implemented in Malaysia are then presented revealing some of the strategies and potential results IT exploitation
