Abstract
The limnology of two types of fish ponds are described. The physiscal and chemical parameters of a drainable dugout fish pond significantly differ (p0.05 or 0.001) from those of a disused mining pool even though both received water from the same source. The diversity of phytoplankton in both ponds were not significantly different (p0.1) if the pre-stocking quick limed period was excluded in the comparison. However the drainable pond supported higher phytoplankton and zooplankton biomass
