Abstract

Rodents (rats and squirrels) damage coconut palms (Cocos nucifera) in the nursery and in the field plantings and cause heavy crop loss. Management practices found to be effective in controlling rodent damage to coconut palms include taking advantage of host shifting habit of rodents by planting intercrops by erecting mechanical barriers using traps trained dogs and cats applying bromadiolone baits and destroying breeding places
