The hypothesis is that the mentioned nonhuman natural entities posses intrinsic and inherent values. They are valueble in and for themselves. The Orang Asli are essentially animists. They believe that spirits are also in control of humans and the physical world enviroment. The physical phenomenon such as forests mountains hills waterfalls rivers and other similar geographical attributes are connected to the spirits. They can also be found in specific localities in the community. The spirit have the ability to bring about good and bad outcome resulting from actions of the Orang Asli depending on the favourability of the spirits towards their actions. In suku Temuan the spirit is known as Seliman. Being animists it can be seen that their environmental worldview is very much biocentric in nature.
