Abstract

The genetic relationships among Halophila minor big-leaved Halophila ovalis and small-leaved Halophila ovalis were determined using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique. The purpose was to find out if the two variants of Halophila ovalis are two genetically different groups of plants and how they are related to Halophila minor another species that looks similar to them. Forty five accessions were tested. UPDGA cluster analysis showed that the three groups of Halophila were clustered into 2 groups separating the Halophila minor and Halophila ovalis.
