Abstract

The dry fruits of Pistacia atlantica were extracted with solvents of various polarity. Phenolic contents were determined using the Folin-Ciocaleu method the reducing power (FRAP) and 2 2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging capacity were also determined. The total phenolic contents and the antioxidant activity are tightly dependent of the extracting solvent. The higher polyphenol content was observed for the crude methanolic extract with value of 285.95 10.25 mg gallic acid equivalent per gram of dry matter (GAE/ g DW). A high correlation was observed between phenolic content and antioxidant activity.
