Abstract
The surface lubrication of rubber vulcanisates by various aqueous and non-aqueous liquids has been assessed using simple friction apparatus. Experimental results reveal considerable differences in lubricity for liquids of the same viscosity. Maps of lubrication behaviour which may serve as a practical guide for engineering design of rubber articles are presented.
