Abstract
Rice farming mechanisation, including transplanter and direct seeding, is increasing in Malaysia in order to reduce production costs, labour needs, and rice cultivation productivity. Because drilled row spacing seeding is still relatively new, inbred rice drilled-row spacing seeding equipment are being developed to meet the ever-changing agricultural sector demands. The objectives of this experiment are to evaluate the machine for row seeding and to identify the right mechanism to use in conjunction with the transplanter prime mover's PTO. The experiment was carried out on a 1 hectare experimental plot at MARDI Seberang Perai. This machine is driven by the power take off and is coupled to a standard 17 HP water-cooled, 2-cylinder/4-cycle Model GZ460 Gasoline transplanter prime mover (PTO). The seed rate for this machine ranges from 60kg to 110kg seed/ha based on the sprocket ratio scale. A constant speed of 1.5km/h with a low gear is recommended for even sowing. There are four rows with adjustable spacing in one passage. Working hours in a 1 hectare area will take 3 to 4 hours. The capacity to conserve seed, water, and labour while improving output due to line sowing spacing of 18-30 cm between rows and crop early maturity are among the benefits of this technology (by 7-10 days). It can also save farmers production costs by eliminating the requirement for paddy nursery and seedling production.
