Abstract
The potential of ecotourism as economics generator while conserving the natural and cultural heritage of the IMT- GT areas can be of significance to the regional tourism development. This involves the initiatives through exploring the opportunities and feasibility of forest and cultural resources found in abundance in parklands of Kerinci- Seblat National Park, Sumatra, Perlis State Park, Peninsular Malaysia and Thaleban National Park, Thailand. The feasibility and related development strategy could be based on the images, attractiveness, activities, uniqueness and the surrounding environments possessed by those areas. In many situations, appropriate measures have also to be considered to facilitate the arrivals of ecotourists with related services such as information, health and safety. Studies are conducted at the three parks to identify the attributes and promotional aspects of these areas in order to be turned into an important ecotourism destination belt. This article discusses the best promotional strategies and development based on the ecotourism opportunity characteristics to influence potential visitors to those parks.
