Abstract
Mek Dara was the third Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus) fitted with satellite transmitter after Mek Penawar and Abang Ramadhan in 1995 and 1996 respectively. Mek Dara was released in the same locality at Muadzam Shah Pahang where she was captured in July 1998 with the hope that she would rejoin her group. Due to some technical problems with the transmitter no signal was received during the five months after her release. Direct observation for five months revealed that Mek Dara was solitary. The elephant movement covered an area of 60-65 km using topography blocks counting and direct observation.
