Abstract

Three carcasses of deer Cervus timorensis with generalized extensive haemorrhages were investigated. Non-inflammatory degenerative changes in the vascular walls with disseminated intravascular coagulation were the main histopathological findings. Serological evidence from convalescence deer is highly suggestive of Epizootic Haemorrhagic Disease Virus type 2 and Bluetongue Virus type 1.
