Abstract
Aquatic insects were collected from five rivers and streams in the vicinity of Gunung Jerai, namely Sungai Batu Hampar, Sungai Badak, Sungai Kubur Panjang and Sungai Tupah and their tributaries. A total of 126 individual insects were caught and identified to 10 orders, 16 families and more than 20 genera were represented indicating the existence of good and suitable aquatic environments. Among the large genera are Baetis, Thalerosphyrus, Campsoneuria, Hydropsyche and Aedes.
