Abstract
The new field of conservation geology requires the input of all traditional fields of geology. A successful research and development programme for advancement of this field requires expertise from disciplines, outside of geology such as planning, law, tourism and management. Geologists should lead the development efforts and harness the multidisciplinary networking in order to ensure that conservation geology contributes to the aspiration towards achieving sustainable development.
